  cpdup: use libmd for MD5 checksums

Backport the master fix for OpenSSL 3 deprecation failures by using the base libmd MD5 interface instead of OpenSSL low-level MD5 APIs.

The staged C sanity formatter also normalized md5.c style, and cppcheck exposed a redundant pnode NULL check in the touched file.
